Certain biological variations in the pilosebaceous units, or the skin structure consisting of a hair follicle and its connecting sebaceous gland, in the skin, cause an inflammatory disease called acne. “Acne Vulgaris” is the most common form of acne and it usually appears during adolescence.

Excessive oil in the human body causes acne. Combining naturally with the dead skin cells, excessive oil secreted by the kin glands block the hair follicles. Generally the sufferers of this problem are people who eat a lot of oily foods.

Some of the other parts of the human body are affected by acne also. Arms, face etc are some of them. Uncontrolled multiplication by the bacteria in the skin uncontrollably thanks to the blocked pores creating the perfect environment. The visible lesion, acne, is produced in response to the inflammation of the skin. The body can also have rashes. Especially affected by acne are the face, upper arms, back and chest.

Blackish elevations or pale yellow and/or small whitish bumps are the certain types of acne lesions. Boil-like tender swellings or reddish bumps are what more inflamed rashes take the shape of. Prominent, unsightly acne scars may remain even after the resolution of the blemishes.

An abnormal response to normal levels of the male hormone testosterone is a common cause of acne in puberty. Due to excess oil in the body, acne occurs when the hormones are increased. If acne will ever reoccur again or how long it will take to disappear completely cannot be predicted.

At some stage in life, acne affects a large percentage of humans. Causing stress and depression, apart from leaving behind the marks of acne scars, it has some psychological effects also. To ensure a healthy life, acne should not be neglected and should be treated with great care.

Most of us went through a stage as teenagers where we had to endure the agonies of a complexion that was less than picture perfect. In time, the acne went away and we got on with our lives. For a few adults, however, acne is not just a memory of days gone by; it is a reality that they deal with in the here and now. If you are an adult who currently is living with acne while undergoing treatments to bring your condition under control, chances are you need to be reminded of a few things.

First of all, you need to understand that adult acne is not a unique condition. Million of persons in their twenties through their fifties have dealt with or are currently dealing with an outbreak of zits, blackheads, and whiteheads. While it is true that we are most susceptible to acne while in our teens, the fact of the matter is that no one ever completely outgrows the potential for developing this type of skin problem. So take heart for two reasons: first, anyone who looks at your face with wonderment will probably have his or her turn someday, and second, the fact that so many people do experience adult acne means the medicine is well equipped to help you move through the situation.

Adult acne can be attributed to a variety of root causes, with hygiene and diet being two of the primary reasons one may experience an outbreak during the adult years. The fact of the matter is that in spite of all the hoopla about physical fitness, we are in worse physical condition now than we have been in decades. Our poor eating habits, coupled with a predilection to ask for our fast food orders to be super-sized, has led us to this sorry state. One of the things you can do to help hasten your recovery is to take a long hard look at the way you eat, and make some changes in how much fatty foods you ingest. A diet that is more heart healthy will also tend to be very good for your skin, so take this as an opportunity to do several good things for yourself at one time.

Stress is also a major reason for adult acne. Stress causes our bodies to be less competent in dealing with germs, bugs, and viruses, so is it little wonder that some of this breakdown will be made manifest in the health of our skin? When at all possible, eliminate unnecessary stress from your life and whatever treatments you are undergoing to treat your acne will be helped along greatly.

When it is all said and done, making some lifestyle changes can effectively support medicine in making your adult acne problems fade into the background. Along with helping with your acne, a healthier lifestyle will also help you with your weight, blood pressure, and overall health. Take the hint and make some changes today.
